Featured Software: OpenQuake

Global Earthquake Model, or GEM, is "an international forum where organisations and people come together to develop, use and share tools and resources for transparent assessment of earthquake risk." Comment: Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is the core of this distinguished effort to save 1,000's of lives a year. Kudos to GEM on many levels for realizing that open software and data are key to being effective in the world of emergency preparedness and response.
